Jessica L. Cohen

Artist & Writer.

Jessica L. Cohen is an artist, writer, and Navy veteran from North Florida. She has also lived in Illinois and Okinawa, Japan. Her work experience entails a vast array of occupational skills such as customer service, electrical maintenance, facility management, data research, budgeting, safety management, information technology, and disaster prep—but foremost, she enjoys being creative.

An outlet for the stresses of day-to-day life, her art portrays her daydreams and impulses in colorful, sometimes dark character illustrations via traditional and digital paintings. Her love for the paranormal & fantastical often manifests in her work.

Cohen’s written work acts as a vent for her more complex thoughts on society, families, and their constructs of morality. As a reflection of her own social challenges, she writes characters who struggle to empathize with their peers, who put intimacy and vanity on the backburner in lieu of power and pride—mostly to mask their fears. Her works often feature recurring themes such as military cultures, flawed parent-child relationships, body horror, and animals that aren’t quite what they’re supposed to be.

Cohen graduated with an Associates Degree in Business Administration from Florida Gateway College in Lake City, FL where she is now also pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in the same field.
